divh2Journeyman Network And Computer Systems Administrator/h2pValkyrie Enterprises has need for a Journeyman Computer Network Architect who will provide network and I.T. design support at San Antonio-Lackland Airforce Base, TX, 78236./ppOversees overall network security. Ensures protection from viruses or other security threats, corrupt data and maintain system backups./ppCommunicates hardware/software problems with outside support personnel, i.e.: vendors and technical support representatives./ppImplements new server and network hardware and corresponding software solutions./ppMaintains agency-wide server system to ensure servers are stable, software is updated with appropriate patches and downtime is minimized./ppEnsures that all network systems are functioning and communicating properly. Systems include server hardware, server software, firewalls, routers, network switches, VPN devices, cabling (Ethernet and fiber optics), wireless routers, and other related network systems./ppTracks systems end of life and specifies replacements when needed./ppManages and supports e-mail, database servers, virtualization servers, video conferencing and implements secure Internet access where needed throughout the organization./ppResearches and recommends hardware/software purchases. Participates in assessment of needs in order to select and purchase appropriate hardware/software to integrate with the existing base. Creates, distributes and awards RFPs as necessary. Issues and assesses RFI as necessary./ppDocuments existing systems and formulates comprehensive plans for the implementation of new systems./ppPerforms regular inventories of existing IT equipment reports any discrepancy to Program Manager/ppProvides assistance and guidance to IT Technicians as needed./ppOther duties as assigned to include assisting Help Desk and IT Equipment Custodians./ppMust have a minimum of 10 years experience in the field of management including experience with Windows. Extensive network engineering and troubleshooting experience is required./ppMust possess an advanced understanding of networking protocols procedures./ppMust possess experience with tier 1 network hardware in a production environment./ppMust possess advanced understanding of Microsoft OS applications, including server applications, i.e. Exchange in a production environment./ppMust have extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis./ppMust demonstrate initiative, the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and determine priorities in a fast-paced environment./ppMust have excellent people skills; communication and familiarity with a customer support environment are crucial./ppMust have IAT Level III Certification/ppUnix/Linux and/or Windows Server Administration Certifications are preferred./ppTS/SCI security clearance/pp10% Travel Required. If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID./ppAbility to lift, carry and transport equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job./ppAble to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
